This week's lineup of Veteran's Day tributes will conclude with an outstanding two-day event this weekend at Midway Village Museum.

To commemorate and honor the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, Hometown Heroes: Rockford’s Vietnam Veterans, a two-day information event with a forum is set for Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, at the museum, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford.

I'm looking at a release from Midway Village, and they've really put together two very interesting days. On Saturday, from 11-4, local area veterans will be on hand with photos and artifacts, along with stories of their experiences. Also on Saturday, a variety of displays including:

. Branches of the Military
. Gold Star Mothers
. War Protests
. POWs
. Helicopters and more

At 12:30pm a preview of the Harlem High School Veterans’ film project will be shown, and at 2:00pm, author Wendell Affield talks about the Mobile Riverine Force.

On Sunday, from 2pm-4pm, there will be a moderated panel of local Vietnam War veterans, discussing  the Vietnam War, including the war's effect on Rockford.
