Have You Met Monty the Penguin?

I'm guessing you haven't met Monty yet. One big reason would be that Monty is the star of this year's Christmas "advert" for John Lewis, a chain of upscale department stores in Great Britain.

I had never heard of the John Lewis stores before yesterday, when I got an email from a friend that included Monty's commercial. According to my friend, John Lewis' Christmas commercials are much anticipated each year. And, looking at the number of views those commercials are getting (in the tens of millions), he's right.
