Jobseekers across the Stateline area have a great opportunity this week to get a leg up in their search for a new career.

The Workforce Connection is holding hold a series of seminars on Thursday, March 5th, at the Belvidere Township office at 8200 Fairgrounds Road. The workshops will run from 9 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Seminars will cover topics such as career exploration, resume tips, interviewing skills and job training.

According to the press release from the Workforce Connection, here's a list of the seminars scheduled:

  • Where’s Waldo?                             9:00-10:00am
    Looking for the right career? What do you want to do with your life?  Take this seminar to enhance your ability to make effective career decisions.  You will get a better understanding of the career development process and learn about existing career exploration resources.
  • Build a Winning Resume             10:30-11:30am
    Come and learn various tips and tricks to creating a resume that will stand out to potential employers. Learn the different types of resumes and what is important to include in a resume and what should be left out.
  • Nail Your Next Interview               1:00-2:00pm
    Interviewing; that one word can inflict terror, fear, worry, sweaty palms, and weak knees in anyone.  This seminar will help take the fear and worry out of interviewing by reviewing the do’s and don’ts of interviewing.  We will also touch on how to best nail the different kinds of interviews you may encounter.
  • Skills that Pay the Bills                 2:30-3:30pm
    This seminar will discuss skills related to the personal qualities, habits, and attitudes employers are looking for in an employee.  These skills can be just as important to employers as job performance.
