The NFL's strange and troublesome year continues.

From controversies involving Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson all the way to under-inflated footballs, the National Football League 2014-2015 season has had more than the usual number of news-making incidents both on and off the field.

Thus far though, none as weirdly intriguing as the pounds-per-square-inch narrative that currently holds the sports-viewing nation in rapt attention.

Over the last few days, we've learned more about what happens to the pigskins in the lead up to a game than we've ever needed or cared to know about before.

For those hoping that this pumped-up (sorry) hullabaloo would be disappearing from the media's radar as quickly as it showed up...no such luck.

Especially when it's lampooned before the iconic "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!" is shouted from your TV screen.
