Starting the conversation about diversity can be uncomfortable especially in light of recent events.

This is why the Winnebago County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is presenting its annual seminar, "Starting the Conversation: Understanding Diversity to Build Trust." This interactive workshop on cultural competency is being led by dynamic speaker LaDonna Wattley.

Wattley is the founder and CEO of Wattley Consulting. She has her Masters of Social Work from Indiana University in Bloomington and is a Licensed Clinical Socal Worker with twenty years of experience. LaDonna is a gifted presenter and featured speaker for conferences across the country. Her passion, sense of humor and story-telling ability fuel here energetic presentations.

So if you consider yourself any kind of social leader and want to have honest discussions about what's happening in the world with people outside of your "bubble" this is the perfect event. People always learn something new from her presentations and actually have a good time in the process.

The seminar is Friday, September 16 from 8AM til 2:30PM at the Tebala Event Center on Newburg Rd. in Rockford. Cost of the seminar is $40 per person and a lunch will be provided. For more information go to winnebagocountycasa.org or call 815-319-6880.
