While perhaps not as tight as the gubernatorial fight in Illinois, the race for Illinois Treasurer also has been a single-digit race for most of the year, with Republican Tom Cross leading Democrat Mike Frerichs. Neither candidate previously has run for statewide office, which might explain why a recent Tribune poll indicated about 20 percent of voters still are undecided.

Tom Cross joined us this week on the show to update us on the status of his campaign. He explained why he's the best man for the job and told us his level of concern about the undecided voters in the race.

We also talked about the type of relationship he foresees between the Treasurer's office and the Governor, whether it happens to be Bruce Rauner or Pat Quinn.
