Three records fell at last weekend’s girls NIC-10 track championships

Athletes from Boylan, Belvidere North and Hononegah set new NIC-10 girls track & field records at last week's conference meet at Beloit (Wis.) College.

Grace McLaughlin of Boylan won the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:57.49, easily surpassing the 1983 record of 11:02.00 by Guilford's Sherry Allen.

Hononegah's 4x400 relay team of Megan Leppart, Jordan Tresemer, Honesty Sandlin and Katrina Meyers set a new conference record in a thrilling battle with Belvidere North. The Indians ran the race in 4:04.39, barely eding the Blue Thunder's time of 4:04.85. Both Hononegah and North topped the 2003 Boylan record of 4:04.95.

North etched a new mark in the record book in the 4x800 relay. Sabrina Elder, Kayla McGuire, Madison Diercks and Jenna Lutzow ripped off a time of 9:33.40. That beat the 1986 Guilford team's time of 9:36.50.

Pole vault - Kaylin Himes, Guilford, 2006, 12-0.
Long jump - Jesse Strand, Boylan, 1998, 18-1.
Triple jump - Aleisha Leeper, Freeport, 2007, 39-1.
Shot put - Heather Nelson, Belvidere, 1991, 45-3.
Discus - Heather Nelson, Belvidere, 1991, 145-2.
