Yet another big construction project is coming to Rockford that you'll want to avoid.

NOTE: As always with these posts the art did above is my own work. I have reasonable rates if you'd like some MS Paint work done for yourself.

I'm going to be honest with you guys here, this press release has so many lane closures I'm not really sure what is closed down and what isn't. I'd avoid the entire intersection of Riverside and N. Main until the weekend just to be safe.

Here's the press release. Try to follow along.

Beginning Tuesday October 10, the Water Division will be repairing the water valve at the intersection of W. Riverside & N Main.

Riverside at N. Main left turn lanes will be closed to all traffic heading eastbound and westbound. Riverside will be reduced to one lane to all traffic heading eastbound.

If I'm reading that correctly you won't be able to turn left onto Main from Riverside from either direction. It also looks like all traffic on Riverside headed towards the river will be down to one lane. Cool. Let's move on.

N. Main southbound lanes will be closed but can access the left turn lane as thru traffic. Left turn lane heading northbound to Riverside will be closed.

This is where it gets confusing. Southbound lane will be closed but can access the left turn lane? That sounds contradictory but I think they mean that you can still travel southbound but will have to move over to the turn lane to go through the intersection. Also, no turning left onto Riverside when going north on Main.

Work is expected to take 1-3 days. It's supposed to rain today and part of tomorrow so you can probably extend that to 3-5 days.

What I'm saying here folks is to avoid that intersection like the plague. It'll be nice when it's done, but that's a ways off. Good luck out there.
