I've always wanted to go to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and geek out on all the cutting edge technology on display. CES 2016 just wrapped up last week, so I've missed this year's show, but there's always next year...

For those unfamiliar with CES, The Consumer Electronics Show is the world’s largest gathering of the leaders of consumer electronics. The show dates back to 1967, and shows no signs of slowing down, as over 150,000 people attended this year's event that was split into 3 venues (the Las Vegas Convention Center, The Westgate Las Vegas Resort, and the Sands Expo and Convention Center).

What it's really all about is the latest in cool technology that may or may not make it in the consumer marketplace. Visitors were treated to the latest in cameras, TVs, drones, along with thousands of other tech items.

One particular offering comes from Sennheiser, a German company that makes headphones, microphones, and other types of audio equipment. What they brought to the display table is a new type of headphone system called Orpheus. Since we use headphones every day to do our jobs, these headphones caught my interest...until I saw the price tag. $50,000 a pair.

Are they worth it?

Here's a look at some of the other items of interest from CES 2016:
