Here is a list of how Stateline wrestlers did Thursday at the State wrestling finals.

In 1A. 12 of the 19 wrestlers won in the Preliminary and continue Friday in the winners bracket. They include Hunter Luke 138, Rahveon Valentine 170 and Ian Kuehl 285 of Lewin/Stockton. At 113 Jacob Millman of Oregon. At 120 both Ethen Doty of West Carroll and Josh Shrank of Rockford Lutheran. At 126 Carlos Sanchez of Winnebago. From Byron Ricky Messling at 170, Jonah Pearson 182 and Peyton Lind at 220. From Stillman Valley Jared Van Fleet at 132 and Drake Jennings at 195 who recorded a fast 17-second pin. And at 220 Dakota's Maverick McPeek.

Those who lost and who will be in wrestlebacks Friday include Jaden Rice of LW/S at 106. From Dakota Connor Elmer at 106 and Lucas Sutherland 113. From Stillman Valley Logan Lagerhausen at 145 and Sam Durfey 160. And Tristan Faworski from Winnebago at 160.

In 2A from Freeport, Major Dedmond won at 170. But, Matt Chavez at 182 had a tough one-point loss in the first round.

In 3A Anthony Cassiopi of Hononegah advanced at 285. Dontrell Johnson of Rockford East won a 8-7 thriller at 132. Giovannie Cassiopi of Hononehah lost at 138 and is in the wrestlebacks.

In 1A, Dakota, Lena-Winslow/Stockton and Aurora Christian are the top-ranked teams. However, with no IHSA seeding, only one of those teams will advance to the dual team state.

LW/S and Aurora Christian will collide at the Morrison 1A team dual Sectional Tuesday. Many consider it the State Championship match. Only the winner moves on to the State dual tournament.

NUIC Basketball.

Girls. Stockton won the Sectional Thursday beating Aquin 71-65. Freshman Timpe led Stockton with 18 points. Abby Barr had a game-high 27 for Aquin. In the semifinal in a battle of state-ranked teams Stockton edged Eastland 48-46 and Aquin beat East Dubuque.

Stockton now faces Walther Lutheran at the Belvidere Super Sectional Monday at 7 p.m.

In the latest AP State basketball rankings, Wednesday East Dubuque was fourth in the 1A boys poll. East Dubuque held on for a triple-overtime 58-55 win over Pearl City. The boys Regionals are next week.

Two other Stateline teams were ranked second in the State in the AP rankings in Winnebago in 2A boys and unbeaten Boylan in 4A girls.
