If the fastest acceleration in North America combined with the tallest and fastest double-inversion in the world appeals to you, you're gonna love this.

However, if you're like me (and I know I am), the idea of riding the Six Flags Great America Maxx Force Roller Coaster ranks right up there with waterboarding followed by several dozen atomic wedgies.

I'll admit it. I've tried to overcome a strong tendency toward motion-sickness several times over the years by hopping on different roller coasters--but the result has been the same each time, and it hasn't been pretty.

As the famous Inspector Harry Callahan once said, "A man's got to know his limitations." And, I've learned mine include things that include descriptions like tallest, fastest, highest, scariest, etc.

For those who totally dig that sort of thing, I get the idea that you're going to wildly pleased with Six Flags Great America's new offering for 2019.

With an air-powered launching system to propel riders from 0 to 78 miles per hour in under two seconds, the Maxx Force will be the fastest launch coaster in North America, Six Flags said in a statement. And at 175 feet above the ground, it will also feature the highest double inversion in the world - as well as the fastest inversion, with riders zooming through a corked roll at 60 miles per hour, according to the park.

It will be the Gurnee park's 17th roller coaster, according to Six Flags, and will debut summer 2019 in the Hometown Square area.
