As you may already know, the demand for blood goes up significantly when the weather gets warmer and nicer. More people out and about, engaging in summertime activities, means more accidents and injuries requiring blood and blood products.

Just got a note from our friends Jennifer Bowman at the Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC),and Jimmy Smith at the Culver's in Winnebago, asking me to let you know about an event Thursday night at the Winnebago Culver's:

Give a pint, get a pint -- it’s that simple. To help support local blood drive efforts, Culver’s of Winnebago is offering a complimentary pint of the restaurant’s signature handcrafted Fresh Frozen Custard to individuals who donate a pint of blood on Thursday, June 25th from 2:00pm to 8:00pm in the Culver's of Winnebago parking lot.

"Being a good neighbor and helping make our community great is an important part of who we are at Culvers," says Jimmy Smith, owner, Culver’s of Winnebago. "We’re happy to have the opportunity to give back to the Winnebago and surrounding communities."

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and one pint can save up to three lives. And, in our area, the needs aren’t any different.

Blood donors are asked to make appointments in advance by calling Culver's, at 815-335-2801, but walk-ins are also welcome. Every Culver’s guest who registers will receive a "Give a Pint, Get a Pint" certificate for a complimentary pint of Frozen Custard from Culver’s of Winnebago.

"It’s our way of saying ’thank you’ to our generous guests," says Smith.

Blood is needed every day in hospitals and emergency treatment facilities for patients with cancer and other diseases, for organ transplant recipients and to help save lives of accident victims.

If you'd like some more info on "Give a Pint, Get a Pint" night, please call Culver's of Winnebago at 815-335-2801 and make an appointment today.
