Fred VanVleet has never forgotten his roots and now he's officially representing the city.

It's all part of the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau new Bring Your Game 2 Rockford (BYG2RKFD) campaign.

VanVleet will continue to be featured in the BYG2RKFD campaign over the next year. In addition to a variety of advertisements and promotions featuring VanVleet, RACVB is working with him on creating events for the community including a possible basketball camp and tournament next summer.

VanVleet and the RACVB have already scheduled a celebration when he is back in town during the NBA's All-Star break. They will host an All-Star game watch party at the District Bar and Grill on Sunday, Feb. 19. The event will be a fundraising party for local youth basketball club teams and to help bring additional sports tournaments to Rockford. Details will be announced soon.

VanVleet was one of the premiere point guards in the country during his four years at Wichita State.  He was undrafted going into this year's summer league before the Toronto Raptors signed him to their team.   Fred was having great success in the Raptors D-League before being called up to the NBA team where he is currently serving as back up point guard.
