Rockford, I am so proud. In just a months time we pulled together to raise enough money to keep something running that meant a lot to us...Trolley Car 36.

Ever since the news broke that Trolley Car 36 would be garaged this summer due to Rockford Park District budget cuts, concerned citizens have been determined to save it

Thankfully, one Rockford couple and 138 other generous supporters made it happen.

About a month ago Jodi Beach of the Jodi Beach Trio, and her husband Jim McDowell started a GoFundMe campaign to Save Trolley Car 36 with a fundraising goal of $16,000, which is the amount the Rockford Park District said would be needed to keep Trolley Car 36 operational.

As of Wednesday, March 21, 2018, the goal had been officially reached. Hooray!!

The good news was also confirmed by the Rockford Park District on Wednesday night according to the Rockford Register Star. The following was sent to them by Rockford Park District's Communications Manager, Laura Gibbs-Green;

Reaching this fundraising milestone means that Trolley Car 36 will remain on the tracks this summer,”

“This is one great example of how citizens are coming together to support their Rockford Park District.”

To everyone that donated, and to Jodi Beach and Jim McDowell I want to say a heartfelt thank you. My daughters love riding Trolley Car 36 every time we go to the Rockford City Market, and I am extremely grateful this is one summer tradition we will not have to give up.

Since we're in our "superhero" mode and busy saving Rockford's treasures, don't forget that the Forest City Queen still needs our help. If you would love to see the Queen float again this summer, donate to her GoFundMe campaign here.
