When the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi aired on Monday, anyone and everyone who saw it was hyped for the new movie.

As a lifelong fan whose Star Wars fandom has been passed on to my kids, I too was super excited.

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out two years ago, I made sure that I was there opening night along with both of my boys. I mean, even my Dad came along.

This time around, my kids are two years older, and I knew I was going to buy tickets for the first show in Rockford yet again.

After fighting with AMC's website for an hour or so, I finally got in and I was all set and ready to buy four tickets for the first Rockford showing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

That was until I saw this:

Are you kidding? $30 a ticket? Remember when I said I went to the first showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens two years ago?

Well, I paid the standard IMAX price for each ticket, and from what I remember 4 tickets to the show rang up to $48 or so.

Why the ticket increase? It's something called a "Star Wars: The Last Jedi Opening Night Fan Event" and according to AMC Theatres, "Join your fellow Jedi Thursday, December 14 at 6 pm for an early showing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Receive a pack of collectible Star Wars trading cards, a regular popcorn and see special content."

So that's what you get for a $30 ticket. Undetermined special content, a regular, not large, popcorn, and some trading cards.

If you think that deal isn't that great you're not alone. As of this moment, the first show for the most anticipated movie of 2017 in Rockford is still not sold out.

With a ticket price like this, even Jedi mind tricks won't convince Rockford area moviegoers to spend that much for so little.
