A Rockford man has been sentenced to nearly ten years in federal prison for committing firearms and drug trafficking offenses.

According to a press release, 30-year-old Jarimne Freeman was sentenced for possession with intent to distribute heroin and marijuana. Freeman pleaded guilty in October of last year, when he admitted to meeting with an individual who was cooperating with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office at a location in Rockford to sell him 10 grams of heroin.

Freeman was arrested upon arrival at the predetermined location. A vehicle search turned up just under 9 grams of heroin and over 324 grams of marijuana packaged separately. Additionally, a loaded 9 mm pistol was confiscated.

Freeman will be placed on 3 years of supervised following the sentenced and is ordered to pay $200.
