Rockford Man Dead After Being Run Over By Tow Truck

A Rockford man is dead after he was run over by a tow truck and possibly his vehicle just after 11 p.m. Thursday in the 3300 block of N. Main St.

According to the Rockford Police Department, a 54-year-old male confronted and assaulted a tow truck driver who was removing a vehicle parked in an area with a no parking sign.

The driver attached the vehicle to the truck and began to leave the scene. He was then allegedly confronted by the man. Police say that during the confrontation, the man fell into the roadway and under the wheels of the tow truck and possible the vehicle.

Police were contacted by the tow truck driver. The 54-year-old male was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

The names of the driver and the 54-year-old male have not been released at this time. The incident is still under investigation.
