Police Searching For Man Suspected of Shooting 2 McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies

Several law enforcement agencies are searching for a man suspected of shooting two McHenry County Sheriff's deputies in Holiday Hills early today.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, two deputies were shot while responding to a well being check just before 1:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of N. East Shore Drive.

Police are now searching for Scott B. Peters, 52, who is 5'10'' and 200 lbs. He is wanted for attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

Peters is considered by police to be armed and dangerous. Those with information about his whereabouts should call 815-338-2144.

The sheriff's office says one of the deputies who was shot is a 12-year veteran of the department. She is listed in stable condition at Centegra-McHenry Hospital.

The other deputy has been with the department for seven years. The office reports he is in critical, but stable condition at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
