Our friend Andrea, from the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB), dropped by the station this morning to fill us in on a really cool fundraising event taking place tonight at the former Rockford Morning Star building at 127 N. Wyman St.

It's called "Paint the (Down)town Green," a fundraiser for the RACVB Forest City Beautiful Initiatives like downtown cleanup and landscaping, public art installations, Rockford's River Lights, and many other efforts that "create dynamic and engaging spaces."

From the RACVB website:

The evening includes complimentary tastings in our specialty Death’s Door Spirits tasting rooms, heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts throughout the evening, a special showing of Rockford’s River Lights presented by MercyRockford Health System, live music and a silent auction (featuring amazing items such as a table made from the City of Rockford Christmas Tree). In addition, there will be a cash bar and valet parking.

We will transform the former Rockford Morning Star building (127 N. Wyman Street) into a fun and engaging venue for the evening and the more than 300 anticipated guests. This was a SOLD OUT event in 2015, so get your tickets early!

Proceeds from the evening will go directly to maintaining and upgrading flower beds, planters and public spaces throughout downtown Rockford.

Tickets for the event are $100 each, and you still have time to get yours by going to gorockford.com/green, or you can call (815) 963-8111.
