The Northern Illinois Police Memorial Week Committee cordially invites you to attend the 34th Annual Police Memorial Events.

This committee was established 35 years ago, 5 years before the creation of the National Law Enforcement Memorial Vigil Ceremony in Washing D.C.  The Northern Illinois Police Memorial Week Committee consists of current active and retired Law Enforcement Officers.  The committee hosts these events and recognizes the fallen officers within Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Dekalb, Stephenson and McHenry counties.

The Northern Illinois Police Memorial Week includes four days of events, which shows support and appreciation to the Local Law Enforcement Agencies and the communities that they serve, and most importantly honoring those Law Enforcement Officers who have given the “Ultimate Sacrifice”.

 

A description of each event is as follows:

Blue Mass Church Service: May 11, 2015 at 12:00 p.m.

They encourage not only law enforcement officers to attend, but an open invite is also extended to the public. This year’s Blue Mass Church Service will be held at St. Peter’s Cathedral, 1243 N. Church Street, Rockford, IL 61103

Law Enforcement Ecumenical Memorial Service.  May 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

They encourage not only law enforcement officers to attend, but an open invite is also extended to the public.  This year’s Memorial Service will be held at Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court Street, Rockford IL.

35th Annual Northern Illinois Police Memorial Breakfast and Service: May 15, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. Tebala Shrine Center, 7910 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL

This year’s events will host 31 different law enforcement agencies, representing 300 attendees, throughout the six counties we represent.  This year the Multi-Jurisdictional Honor Guard has representation from 15 different Law Enforcement Agencies, with a total of 26 Honor Guard Members.  The Honor Guard will conduct a full Law Enforcement Memorial Service, in remembrance to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.  During this event the roll call (reading of the names) of Fallen Officers occurs. Guest Speaker to include Jim Sacia (Retired FBI / Ex-State Representative).

The Memorial Breakfast is limited to special invite and is not open to the Public.  However, the Northern Illinois Police Memorial Week Committee is extending an open invention to all media outlets to the 35th Annual Memorial Breakfast. Full Honor’s Ceremony usually starts at 9:30 a.m.

The 3-Day Annual Law Enforcement Displays.  This year 21 different agencies will display at CherryVale Mall.  The displays consist of Law Enforcement Officers or representatives from their agencies, squad cars, informational pass outs and interactive displays.  This year’s events will host Chief’s Day, K-9 demonstrations, Bomb Robot Demonstration, Atwood Park Birds of Prey, fingerprinting and face painting.  The Memorial Wall Honoring the Fallen Officers will be displayed at the center court in CherryVale Mall.
