Wednesday night was not the finest evening at our house. In fact, it was filled with whining and crying. Our nearly two-year-old son and three-month-old daughter took turns filling the air with their grievances. Sometimes they cried and whined together. It was not the greatest of times.

However, I will be quick to point out this is a highly unusual occurrence. Our children normally are very well-behaved and a joy to be around. Just not last night. Things happen.

One mom in North Carolina apparently has had too many things happen recently.  And she decided to hit the picket line:

Muhammad made a sign that reads "Mom On Strike." For the past two days, she has marched up and down Waughtown Street near her house to make her point to her children. Muhammad says that conventional discipline methods like time-out do not work with her two teenage daughters. "I'm to the point where I'm just so frustrated, so to keep my hands off my kids or to keep me from doing something crazy, I just decided to go on strike," said Muhammad.

Muhammad tells reporters she will continue to picket outside of her home until her children learn proper respect and appreciation for her. Here's a report from TV station WFMY in North Carolina:

It would be too bad for Mom if the kids are having a fantastic time without her. It certainly would make them less willing to bend to her demands.
