Stateline area voters went to the polls this Election Day in record low numbers. Turnout in  Winnebago County was around 10 percent of registered voters.  Boone County had a voter turnout of 12 percent. The city of Rockord ended up with only six percent of voters casting a ballot.

A number of communities elected new mayors and village presidents. In South Beloit, Ted Rehl defeated interim Mayor Alice Schoonover and William Tinder. In Roscoe, incumbent Village President Dave Kreinke defeated Sharon Atkins and Dale Keller. In Oregon, City Council member Ken Williams beat incumbent Mayor Tom Stone and former Oregon Mayor Mike Arians for a four-year term.

Voters also elected three trustees to serve Rock Valley College. Ashley Burks and Bob Trojan will serve in their positions for six-year terms. Katherine Kelley will serve an unexpired two-year term.

Cherry Valley voters approval a renewal of a 1 percent sales tax, while Winnebago County voters turned down a special property tax increase that would have gone toward the North Park Fire Protection District.
