New Bike Lanes Coming To Downtown Rockford

Getting around downtown on a bike is about to get a little safer. 

WREX -  New bike lanes will now be along Madison Street from the YMCA to the Sports Factory. This is one of the first projects for improvement along the Madison Street corridor that began last year. The bike lanes began being striped on Monday and are about half way done.

When everything is done there will be bike paths connecting the Sports Factory, to the YMCA with stops along the way at the Brew House and Ice House.

You will be able to connect to the Rock River path at the YMCA and from there you'll be connected to miles of paths that are laid out around the area.

The Rockford area has been very progressive when it comes to bike paths. We really do have some of the better maintained and more scenic paths in the state.

This will only invite more people down to what is becoming a very impressive downtown area.
