The Rockford Police and Park District invite the community to attend National Night Out August 2nd.

National Night Out is an annual community building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It is held the first Tuesday in August every year. Communities from all 50 states, territories, Canadian provinces, and military bases participate in the event.

The event is always a good time for the public to meet some police and put faces to the names on the badge. As we've seen in recent news the best way to diffuse any tension between the police force and the public are social outings like this. So gather up the kids and head out to the park next Tuesday.

This year's local event will be held at Keye-Mallquist Park from 5-8PM. Free entertainment, games, prizes and refreshments will be provided.
