Mondays are perfect. You don't hear that very often, do you? Well, in this case, Mondays are perfect...for discussing stress. In particular, the cities and towns here in Illinois that find themselves dealing with the most, and least, amounts of stress.

Career site Zippia took a look at our state with the goal of determining where Illinois' major stress points are. Some good news is that Rockford doesn't make the top ten "most-stressed" list, but it doesn't show up on the top ten "least-stressed" list, either. Rockford comes in at the #99 spot, Belvidere comes in at #102.

Zippia's criteria for determining stress levels:

In order to measure stress, we selected a set of six criteria that reflect its root causes for most people and used them to look at the 340 places in Illinois with a population over 5,000 according to the 2010-2014 American Community Survey:

  1. Percentage of population with a long commute (over 30 minutes)
  2. Unemployment Rate
  3. Hours worked
  4. Population density
  5. Percentage of income spent on rent
  6. Percentage of population without health insurance

The higher the number, the more stressed out the residents are. In our local area, it appears that the stress level is lower.
