A major hot dog distributor has issued a massive recall that affects Rockford, Illinois and the rest of the country.

According to a USDA news release, Bar-S foods is recalling over 370,000 pounds "of chicken and pork hot dog and corn dog products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today."

Listeriosis is straight up bad news. Some symptoms of listeria are fever, muscle and head aches including dreaded gastrointestinal issues.

Keep in mind, the Bar-S hot dogs have not been confirmed to contain listeria but have asked to have them pulled from store shelves as a "precautionary measure."

It's a relief that this recall didn't happen a couple of weeks ago. It would've sucked to serve up potentially dangerous listeria dogs at a 4th of July party.

If you bought a package of Bar-S hot dogs recently, you should throw them out immediately or return them to the store in which they were purchased.
