If you have a fire extinguisher, good for you. Now it's time to see if you need to replace it.

The largest fire extinguisher manufacturer in the country, Kidde, has issued a recall that could affect about 40 million extinguishers.

The extinguishers in question all have plastic handles that can fail to discharge due to nozzle detachment. There has already been one death reported.

Here's a note from the Kidde website:

Consumers should immediately contact Kidde to request a free replacement fire extinguisher and for instructions on returning the recalled unit, as it may not work properly in a fire emergency.

There are way too many serial numbers to list here. If you have a Kidde extinguisher you can check to see if you need to get a replacement here.
