The Hononegah girls basketball game Saturday night essentially will decide the NIC-10 girls race.

The NIC-10 boys basketball race could become even tighter depending upon how things play out with Friday's Boylan-East, Hononegah-Jefferson games and Saturday's Rumble in the Rock.

It's a huge weekend though for some of the sports that don't get as much attention.

Rockford Boylan (1A), Freeport (2A) and Machesney Park Harlem (3A) all advanced to this weekend's competitive dance state finals. A NIC-10 team has never won an IHSA state dance title since it was established as a sport in 2013.

The NIC-10 boys wrestling meet is this weekend.

The boys bowling state finals started this morning. It's early but the NIC-10 again is showing off its power. As of 4 p.m., Hononegah was in first, Freeport third and the defending state champion Harlem Huskies were fifth with lots of frames left.
