The Cubs haven't had the best first half of the season and the All-Star voting proves that the public has definitely noticed.

There's only one Cubs on the All-Star team, closer Wade Davis. That's a stark contrast from last year when the Cubs provided the entire infield for the mid-summer classic.

There is a chance for one more to get on the squad. Third baseman and defending MVP Kris Bryant is part of MLB's Final Vote campaign. This is where the fans get to vote for the final player for each league. It's a good idea in theory if this was merely an exhibition game but Bud Selig made sure that wasn't true when he decided that the winning team would get home-field advantage for the World Series.

But that's an argument for another time.

My thought on it is that I'm glad all these guys didn't make the team. No one on the Cubs has had ANY time off since they won the World Series. The off-season was filled with all the public appearances that go with ending a 108 year World Series drought. So I'm glad most of the team will have 4 days off with the spotlight far away from them.

But if you want to get the dreamboat at the hot corner in you can go submit your vote here.
