Call them transplants, or snowbirds, or whatever you want to call them, but we all know at least one person from the Rockford area who has moved out to the Phoenix/Scottsdale/Mesa area, also known as "The Valley of the Sun." I'm willing to bet that they'd love to experience a Rockford winter day right about now.

My mother-in-law, Sandy, lives there, as does my brother-in-law Paul and his family. We'd call them to see how it's going, but I heard that their cellphones melted. So did the cellphone tower.

If you haven't been paying attention, the Phoenix area is experiencing a bit of a heatwave right now. And, by "a bit of," I mean that they're broiling out there.

The fact that they're not even going with the standard "But, it's a dry heat" response this time around indicates how severe this blast furnace-like heatwave is.

So, for all of us who've found ourselves envying the Arizona lifestyle from time to time, here are just a few tweets from Arizonans about what they're going through (and it's only June!):

As long as you're wearing the oven mitts, how about some baked goods?

Did this dog ask to move out there?

I thought cacti enjoyed this kind of thing...

At least public transportation is air-conditioned. The walk to public transportation, however...

Although, if you really, really hate recycling, this heat is your friend.

Gotta keep that sense of humor, though.
