Tennis is an excellent sport that you can play well into your AARP years, so you might as well start young.

Full disclosure here. This might be a little bit biased. I played tennis in high school and Rock Valley College (member of the 2000 National Championship team, NBD but KBD) and my dad currently coaches boys and girls tennis at Harlem High School. It's a great sport with a great community.

If you want to introduce your child to the sport and connect with some people in the Rockford tennis community you should head out to the Forest City Tennis Center June 2nd from 10Am to noon.

If you're not sure where that is, it's one of the last remaining structures where the Clock Tower Resort once stood. Don't worry it's completely safe and no one it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Kids 15 and under will receive a free tennis racket, can of balls, and a pass to Magic Waters as long as supplies last.

Get your kid into tennis early, they'll thank you for life.
