John Tillman, the CEO of Illinois Policy, joined "Riley & Scot" to explain how state police ordered representatives from Illinois Policy to leave a public building in Rockford because they were handing out cards that explain how people can rescind their membership in the SEIU union.

You'll want to listen to the interview to get the full story, but here's a thumbnail sketch: The state of Illinois has mandated that thousands of home-based caregivers who receive a Medicaid benefit from the state must attend “training” sessions hosted by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Many program participants are family members who take care of loved ones with a disability.

A recent Supreme Court ruling said that home health care workers in Illinois cannot be compelled to financially support a union they don’t wish to join. So these “training sessions” reportedly have become glorified recruiting meetings for the SEIU. Illinois Policy claims that in a letter sent this summer, the state told caregivers that the SEIU would have time before, after and during the training to distribute union membership cards.

As these meetings are held, the Illinois Policy Institute attempts to have representatives present nearby to hand out cards that explain union membership is not compulsory and have details on how people can rescind a current membership in the SEIU.

On Wednesday, Tillman says state police ordered representatives from Illinois Policy to leave a public building in Rockford (Central Management Services) because they were handing out those cards. He told us representatives were threatened with arrest if they continued to talk to home health care workers. However, if they stopped talking about the union, they would be allowed inside the taxpayer-funded, state building.

It's an incredible story. More details are available in the full interview below:
