Current State Senator Jim Oberweis is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Dick Durbin. You already might have seen our video interview with him, focusing on the lighter side of life. But we also spend almost 45 minutes on air talking about the issues in the campaign.

We asked him about a wide range of topics, including the unfolding IRS scandal, the impact of Obamacare, and creating jobs across the country, specifically in Illinois.

Oberweis told us he won't end up like his opponent, who has now spent more than 30 years in Washington, D.C.:

I feel very strongly about [term limits] and if elected I am pledging now that I will not serve more than two terms in the U.S. Senate and I will propose federal legislation to provide term limits for our federal legislators. I was one of the biggest supporters of the Illinois Constitutional term limits. I'm hoping that will be on the ballot in November, unless Mr. Madigan is successful in his court challenge...I think that's a very critical issue that will give us a much better form of government.

Oberweis also has challenged Senator Durbin to a series of seven debates across the state before November, but says he hasn't heard that the incumbent will commit to that schedule.
