I'm a teacher's daughter. I have a lot of teacher friends and extended family members, and I know every single one of them shells out a lot of their own cash to make sure their students have the supplies needed to learn. It's a burden no teacher should have to bear financially, but sadly, it will probably never change. Thankfully the state of Illinois has decided to provide a little kick back to ease of bit of this financial burden.

WGN TV reports that Illinois teachers who use their own money to buy classroom supplies will now receive a state tax credit of $250 in addition to the $250 federal deduction. The article says the new tax credit is available for "public school principals, aides and teachers who work at least 900 hours in a school year."

This tax credit obviously doesn't put a stop to the need for teachers to buy their own supplies, but at least it's something...right, teachers?
