Every so often on the Steve Shannon Show we discuss irrational fears; I don't have many but the ones I do have are totally ridiculous. For example, I'm afraid of opening outdoor garbage cans; I'm always afraid an animal will jump out of it or that there's a dead body in there.

Another one I have is sticking my finger in my eye. Thank god I don't need glasses because I could never wear contacts, ever. Nope. Nope. Nope. I don't want your finger near my eye either.

For those of you who do wear contacts, especially this time of year for Halloween, Illinois State Regulators have a warning for you. According to Fox 32 Chicago, colored contacts are pretty dangerous.

The secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation says,

The novelty lenses that routinely flood malls and beauty supply stores are often made overseas in facilities that are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. They contain tinting materials that can damage eyes -- including blindness.

Yikes. Nothing sounds worse than getting a bacterial infection in your eyes. Sure it might look cool but what happens when Halloween is over?  Maybe you could just get some from your local optometrist?
