Mark your calendars now to hear from one of the greatest Fighting Illini basketball players ever. On Tuesday, October 27, former University of Illinois great Dee Brown is scheduled to speak at the annual Big Ten Tip Off Dinner.

Brown is in his first year as Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics at the University of Illinois. He was the 2005 Sporting News National Player of the Year and winner of the 2006 Bob Cousy Award as the nation's top point guard. In his junior season, the Illini won 37 games and finished as National Runner-Up.

The Tip Off Dinner is hosted by the Rockford Area Illini Club and is open to alumni and fans of all Big Ten schools. The event, held at at Forest Hills Country Club, begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., and program at 7:15 p.m. The cost is $40 per person and includes buffet dinner and dessert.
