We're proud to debut a new video series as we try to take you through our archives here at WROK and, at the same time, preserve them on the internet for years to come. It's call ed "From The Morgue" and the first edition features the Greater Rockford Airport.

First, some background. To explain, a morgue file was the paper-folders containing old files, notes and old article clippings kept by reporters in case they became of later use as a quick-reference. You'll notice many documents physically stamped with the word as part of the old filing system at the station.

The Greater Rockford Airport morgue file contained stories pertaining to the Experimental Aircraft Association's "Fly In" leaving town, and honor for RFD's control tower, and information on the airport terminal's Grand Opening celebration in 1987.

There are filing cabinets full of clippings here at the office. We'll try to work through it a bit a time. If you have a request, let us know!
