This Saturday, Rockford's River District is giving you a great opportunity. Take a bike ride, get a great view of one of Rockford's coolest areas, and help out the community, all at the same time.The River District's inaugural "River District 12" is getting underway this Saturday at 7:00am. It's a 12-hour bicycle tour designed to promote bike safety and awareness, provide a bike view of the River District, and build the community's foundation.

The course is an approximately 4 and a half mile loop, containing 5 checkpoints and 8 bonus checkpoints. Bonus check-points could include helping to build something for the neighborhood, beautification of the neighborhood, or a bike safety course. Also, if you complete all the bonus checkpoints you'll be awarded with a credit of one extra lap.

You can sign up solo or in a team of 2-6 people. Entry fee is $20 per person.

Saturday's forecast is for partly cloudy skies, with a high temperature of 89. Perfect weather for getting to know the River District, and for doing some good for the community.
