The price of gas continues to go down.

The Illinois average is now $3.55, according to the Daily Fuel Gauge Report. The price dropped 35 cents from July to August, and now another two cents from August to September.

“$3.55 is stable, and for a lot of people, they’re not gonna consider it low until it gets to $3.20, $3.25. But for the most part, we’ve had a very stable summer as far as gas prices go, and hopefully that will continue throughout the fall,” said Beth Mosher of the AAA-Chicago Motor Club, based in Aurora.

Mosher says the price will fall further next month with the switch to the winter fuel formulation.

The price is now 20 cents cheaper than it was last year at this time.
