Okay, let's say, for the sake of argument, that you're tired of the sports that North America has to offer. Burned out on baseball, tired of football and the NFL's controversies, don't care about Lord Stanley and his cup, basketball's over, and really let's not even get started on soccer.

What can you do? What's left to enjoy in the world of sports?

Shin-kicking, my friend, shin-kicking.

Where in the world would you find shin-kicking? At the Cotswold Olimpicks!

Competitors in the Shin Kicking Championships put up with a lot to keep this age-old English tradition alive.

Simply put, competitors hold on to each other - and then kick each other's legs until one of them falls over.

And if you think that sounds painful, then you'd be right.

In fact, some of the entrants in the competition even stuff straw in the legs of their trousers in an attempt to lessen the impact.

Well. That sounds, uh...fun. At least you only have to go through it once, right? Wrong. In order to be declared "winner" you must go through it again, and again, until you're the last one standing.

The competition forms part of the Cotswold Olimpicks, a collection of largely harmless and fun activities for the community in Gloucestershire, western England, originally created by lawyer Robert Dover and dating back to 1612.

During those games people compete in novelty races like wheelbarrow racing and tug-of-war.

But, according to event chairman Graham Greenall, the headline event - the world shin kicking championships - is what everyone is talking about.

Take a look:

Gosh, I can't wait to put together my fantasy shin-kicking team.
