Fire crews in Rockford continue to battle a massive warehouse fire in frigid and icy conditions. And now it appears the fire has spread to another building.

According to our news partners at Eyewitness News, Rockford Fire Chief Derek Bergsten says firefighters from across the region were called at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to the former Asher Tool and Machines Sales warehouse. Later, that fire spread next door:

Rockford firefighters now have two fires on their hands, as flames from the factory blaze have set a neighboring building on fire.  Firefighters are also demolishing the factory so they can attack flames inside the building structure without concerns of it collapsing.

With the temperature in the single digits and wind chills below zero, the weather is hampering efforts to extinguish the blaze. Eyewitness News reports one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. We'll have more details as they are released.
