You'll have to hurry over to Nicholas Conservatory before the smell goes away.

The rare Titum Arum plant at Nicholas Conservatory has finally bloomed.

The plant only blooms once every 7-20 years, so this is a pretty special event.

Its nickname is the "Corpse Plant." It gets that from the apparently distinctive odor of rotting flesh it gives off when it blooms. Sweet.

The bloom only lasts 24-48 hours, so it will probably be gone by the weekend. The Nicholas Conservatory has extended its hours today, Thursday August 18th, till 10 PM.

This really is a once-in-a-lifetime type event so if you can make it over to the conservatory I would highly recommend it.

You can watch the plant live on the conservatory's 24-hour webcam.
