Shedd Aquarium, opened in 1930, and at one time the largest indoor aquarium in the world, is Chicago's most popular cultural attraction.

Last year, over 2 million visitors made the Shedd Aquarium part of their Chicago visit, and many of them were Illinoisans who took advantage of some admission-free days.

Well, those days are back this month and again in February at Shedd Aquarium.

The aquarium made the announcement earlier in the week that they would once again be offering admission-free days to Illinois residents (with a valid ID).

If you're looking to save some money while still enjoying a world-class attraction, put these dates on your calendar:

  • January: 17th, 18th, 19th, 20, and 21st
  • February: 1st, 4th-8th, 11th-15th, 18th-22nd, and 25th-28th

No matter how you look at it, getting in for free is better than their normal general admission ticket options of $39.95 for adults, or $29.95 for kids.

Chicago residents pay slightly less, $19.95 for adults, and $14.95 for kids.
