Osvaldo "Ozzy" Flores wants to help with the child delinquency problem in town and his solution is to bring kids together over a chess board.

The Jefferson High School senior is enrolled in their Capstone Class. The purpose of the Capstone Class is to identify a problem or need in the Rockford area and come up with a solution.

Ozzy chose to tackle the problem with delinquency and wants to solve it by introducing these kids to the game of chess. The title of his project is "Chess in the Park: All Class Series." While it is aimed at youth in the area the event is open to all ages.

This is pretty awesome. Both for Ozzy to help out the community like this and having a chess lesson in Nicholas Conservatory. If you've never been it's a beautiful setting.

I really hope this is a success for Ozzy and Nicholas Conservatory. It's cool idea that will help the town and everyone involved. Here's the details.

  • WHERE - Nicholas Conservatory
  • WHEN - Saturday, April 29 10AM - 3PM
  • WHO - Open to public. No registration requred.
  • COST - FREE!!!
  • WHY - To promote the game of chess and to bring the chess community and the Rockford community together.

If you have any questions you can contact Ozzy at 815-670-6507
