It's not a new idea, but, to be fair, it's not like there are hundreds of folks lining up to do it, either. Start with a lawn chair, add a hundred or so helium filled balloons, have a seat, cut the rope, and get ready for (some sort of) adventure.

That's exactly what Daniel Boria, of Calgary, Canada did. He claims he was just trying to draw attention to his cleaning business, but police charged him with "one count of mischief causing danger to life."

From CNN:

Boria said the stunt cost him more than $10,000. He bought a lawn chair for $19.99 and 110 helium balloons -- the largest he could find -- for about $13 each. Filling up the balloons cost around $80 each and took about two hours, he said.

Equipped with an oxygen tank and a parachute, he took off Sunday evening.

"I'd estimate I was going up about 500 to 1,000 feet in a minute," he said. "I was looking down on the city and watching 747s and planes approaching the local airport."

Daniel had planned on parachuting into the Calgary Stampede, but the wind had different ideas. He blew past the Stampede and decided to jump after missing his target.

He had a few cuts on his body and was worried he'd broken his foot, but he was still hoping he could walk away unscathed.

"A guy was driving by and was going to give me a ride," he said.

But instead, Boria got a ride in a different kind of vehicle.

"A police officer arrived and put two and two together and put me in custody," he said.
