As the owners of an extremely active dog, my wife Amy and I know what a joy it is to have not one, but three great off-leash dog parks in the Rockford Area. If you and your dog have never experienced the Rockford Park District's Canine Corners, tomorrow (Saturday, 9/24) would be a perfect first-time.

Why tomorrow in particular? It's Canine Corners Fall Festival:

Canine Corners Fall Festival is a free open house taking place on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at Canine Corners - Searls, 4950 Safford Road, Rockford. Current and prospective members are invited, along with their furry companion; children must be 12 or older to attend. This is a chance to see what Canine Corners Dog Parks have to offer, and enjoy a few hours of fun in the outdoors! Local vendors will be on hand, training demonstrations will be offered, and guided tours of Searls Park will be provided.

Canine Corners Dog Parks are great places to let your dog off the leash to run, play, and socialize. Rockford Park District provides dog owners with three locations for Canine Corners – Searls Park in west Rockford, Elliot Park (with two enclosed areas) in east Rockford next to Elliot Golf Course, 888 South Lyford Rd. and Olson Park, 7901 Harlem Rd. in Loves Park. The parks are open year-round from dawn to dusk, and are fenced so that dogs are safely contained off-leash, with brush and paths for a great field experience. An annual (in the form of a visible dog tag), or one-day pass is required for all dogs using the park.

Now, if you're wondering if your dog will enjoy the experience...

This guy that we featured a while back demonstrates it's all about the journey:
