DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Businesses near Northern Illinois University are expecting a boost in sales when families flood the area for spring graduation.

The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reports DeKalb will see tens of thousands of visitors during ceremonies next month.

Restaurants are starting to be booked up with reservations.

Gavin Wilson owns the Hillside Restaurant in DeKalb. He says the combination of NIU's graduation and Mother's Day makes it one of the busiest weekends of the year for the restaurant.

One DeKalb liquor store is stocking up on Champagne and orange juice for the visiting families.

Glidden Campus Florist owner Oscar Hansen says his flower shop does six to eight times as much business than at other times of the year because of NIU's graduation.
