The Masters is over and while Patrick Reed introduced himself to the country by winning the Green Jacket, an Illinois native collected a pretty impressive win himself.

Doug Ghim is a Junior golfer at the University of Texas and grew up in Arlington Height. Ghim was the only amateur to make the cut. He shot 148 over the first two days, the cut line was at 149. The Buffalo Grove High grad recorded 3 eagles (two in the first round) and a memorable chip in for birdie on the 72nd hole.

Ghim didn't even finish in last place. He beat out two professionals who make a living playing golf.

In recognition of being the low amateur, Augusta presented Ghim with a silver cup, which is actually probably more useful than a green jacket if you think about it.

Six Masters champions have previously won the low amateur, including Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Ghim says that he plans on finishing his career at Texas but will try to play his way onto the tour after that.
