• Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner's pro-business agenda is expected to see some legislative action today. Five agenda bills are expected to be introduced today, including ones that would impose term limits on legislators, freeze property taxes and make it harder for people to sue businesses. Rauner won't push his anti-union right to work initiative, after the House soundly defeated it in a symbolic vote last week.
  • Is Illinois becoming the land of casinos?  Some are beginning to wonder. Video gambling has expanded to more than 6,000 locations in less than three years. In Winnebago County gaming machines took in more than $168 for every man,  woman and child in 2014, the most of any county in Illinois.  The video gambling industry reached in Illinois reached more than $1 billion dollars since it started operating in July 2012. 20,000 video terminals are operating across all 102 counties in the state.
  • Boating season begins with the annual blessing of the fleet.  Having a priest give a blessing before the start of boating season is a tradition which has been passed on for centuries, says Al Grigalunas, president of International Shipmasters' Association Lodge 3 in Chicago.  "It's been written that St. Peter asked for blessings for himself and his fellow fishermen so they would have a safe and bountiful harvest," Grigalunas said. "So you see this tradition goes back a long way."  Grigalunas spoke at the blessing ceremony at Chicago's Navy Pier. The ceremony also included honoring those who have died at sea by tossing a wreath into Lake Michigan.  The ceremony coincides with National Maritime Day Friday.
  • A man is found dead from a gunshot wound to the head Friday morning in the 800 block of Tanner Court.  Police found the 33-year-old man unresponsive on the floor.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.The incident remains under investigation. The identity of the victim is not being released until family is notified.
  • Police are looking for a black Pontiac with tinted windows after a bicyclist is shot in the shoulder on Acorn Street Thursday night.  Officers found several shell casings and two vehicles with bullet holes in them at the scene.  The victim confirmed he was riding his bike on Acorn when a suspect opened fire on him from inside the Pontiac.
