• There is a wind advisory for the remainder of the day for much of northern Illinois. Marengo, Woodstock, McHenry, and Crystal Lake are among a few of the cities affected. Gusts are ranging between 40 and 60 miles per hour.
  • A large fire damaged a Rockford business this morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the Vapor Shop in the 3900 block of Sandy Hollow road. Crews were able to contain the fire within ten minutes. There is an estimated $25,000 in damages, but no one was hurt at the scene.
  • A Janesville man was arrested for his 11th drunk driving charge. 48-year-old Bradley Skelly was pulled over early this morning. Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol and Skely subsequently failed a field sobriety test. He also had a child in the car with him under the age of 16 which has upgraded his drunk driving charge to a felony.
  • Two suspected Beloit drug dealers have been arraigned in federal court. 40 year-old Charles Evans and 24 year-old Tiana Williams are accused of participating in a conspiracy to possess and distribute heroin from May to September. Both were arrested Thursday. Officials say Evans and Williams would allow customers to buy heroin on credit and would often threaten them with violence and in some cases assaulted them.
  • Trick-Or-Treating will be taking place later this afternoon and drivers are urged to exercise caution while driving. Times for several cities in the region include, Beloit from 5-7pm, Belvidere from 4-8pm, Cherry Valley from 5:30-7:30pm, and Rockford from 5:30-7:30pm.
  • Bruce Rauner's campaign is getting some help from a former Illinois governor. Jim Edgar will appear Monday at Rauner events in Bloomington, Springfield, Moline, Rockford and the Chicago suburbs. First lady Michelle Obama will headline a Saturday rally for Governor Pat Quinn and other Democrats in Moline.
  • A federal report says the number of homeless people has declined slightly in Wisconsin. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reports the number of homeless people declined nearly 1 percent this year compared to 2013. The State Journal says there were 6,055 homeless people in Wisconsin during the January count.
  • New Jersey Governor Chris Christie plans to join Governor Scott Walker on the campaign trail. Walker is scheduled to campaign with Christie in the Wausau area and in Rhinelander today. Meanwhile, Democratic challenger Mary Burke is slated to visit Madison, Marshfield and Green Bay today.
